How I met Peter Buck
Peter and I have known each other for a long while (since I was 20 I think). He’s one of the most interesting people I know, and an evening out with him is frequently like going to History of Rock school.

What do I have to do to get the gods to love me as much as they love you? I’m so jealous of you and the people you’ve met. Rock on! Those with blackrimglasses will not be denied!
I met him after a Decemberists show in San Diego. My sister pinched his cheek and called him “cute”
I met Eddie at Bridge School in 2001 and then again at REM’s San Diego show in 2003. We watched the show together side stage. He’s very, very laid back, to the point where sometimes he doesn’t seem awake :)
Grant and I met first because we both are friends with the same people. His music is outstanding, and he is such an inspiration to see live.
I lived across the street from Don in Goleta, CA for a bit. We met first at a screening of his. I love his films, he goes to my REM site. We bonded over the fact that we both were at the same REM promo gig in 2001, but never actually met.
I met Patti backstage at REM’s show in Jones Beach in 1999. She and I had a beer together and she listened patiently while I told her how I first heard her record at 15. That out of the way, she was just an amazing, inspiring and super sweet woman.
I met King at a book signing in Santa Monica, and relayed to him the fact that I got in a lot of trouble in 5th grade for reading Pet Semetary. He seemed amused.
